I spent months researching hair transplant clinics in the US and internationally before choosing Dr. John Cole at ForHair in Alpharetta, GA. I want to leave the kind of review I was looking for back when I was comparing options. Background: I'm Filipino with limited donor density (1–3 hairs per follicular unit), and I'd been on finasteride and then dutasteride for over 20 years. Donor supply is finite, and a clinic that over-harvests or mishandles grafts can cost you options you never get back. That's exactly why I ended up here. I had 1,630 grafts placed. The consultation was a real consultation, not a sales pitch. Dr. Cole and his team examined my donor area and talked honestly about what my density realistically supports, framing the plan around long-term donor preservation rather than what photographs well at 12 months. I came in with a very long list of technical questions and every one was answered thoroughly. The technique matters. Dr. Cole pioneered FUE in the U.S. in 2003 and developed CIT (Cole Isolation Technique), his own refinement of it. Extractions are done by hand with instruments he designed, using a minimal-depth approach that preserves the stem cell layer at the base of the follicle. In practice that means low transection rates, strong graft survival, and no linear scar. If you're comparing clinics, ask each one who actually performs the extractions and with what tools. The answers are revealing. I also opted for the full regenerative package (ACell, PRP, and cytokine-rich plasma) applied during the procedure, all done in-house by the same team on the same day. The staff are the other half of the equation. Dr. Cole's dedicated in-house team—not rotating contractors—handled graft placement and their skill directly affects your yield. Dr. Cole trains his own team in CIT, and it showed. The room was calm, organized, and efficient, and everyone was warm and easy to talk to across a long surgical day. One thing worth weighing if you're considering going overseas: my flight home to Los Angeles was four hours and it was already uncomfortable. You're careful about your head, you can't lean back normally, and you're managing swelling. I genuinely cannot imagine doing that on a twelve-plus hour flight home from Turkey. Add the language barrier and the fact that follow-up questions get answered by email across nine time zones, and the savings start to look different. Being able to reach Dr. Cole's office directly during recovery was worth a great deal. Post-op instruction was the single best part. I left knowing exactly what to do: how to sleep, how to wash, what not to touch and for how long, when to start red light therapy, apply exosomes, which topicals to use and when. No ambiguity and no generic handout. Dr. Cole gave me specific, individualized recommendations. If you're anxious about protecting grafts in the first two weeks, this is what you should be evaluating clinics on, and ForHair is excellent at it. I'd recommend this clinic to anyone who wants a surgeon deeply invested in the technical craft, anyone with limited or previously depleted donor area, anyone considering no-shave or partial-shave FUE, and anyone who would rather be educated than sold to. Dr.Cole and his team is by far the best out there. I came in for a scar repair procedure. The previous hair transplant doctor I've had did not do a good job at covering up the scar and left noticeable laege FUE incisions at the back of my head. Dr. Cole was a real savior. Not only did he do a wonderful job at repairing the scar in terms of hair extraction and hair implants, he also administered SMP to the large dotted FUE points left by the previous doctor. He also used Reyagel when extracting the hairs needed to be implanted in the scar. Reyagel is a gamechanger. It speeds up healing time and also minimizes FUE scarring to the point where I can't see where the extractions were taken from. 6 months in and the tranplanted hairs are growing in nicely. The scar looks much better than before and my colleagues at work don't even notice the scar. Thank you to Dr. Cole and his entire team!
