Great Hope for Strip Scars - 2013 Results

(6 votes)

Before making his decision to have his strip scar repaired by Dr. Cole and his team, our patient received discouraging news from the other hair restoration physicians he consulted with. One doctor said that FUE into a scar would yield so little hair, it would be a complete waste of money.

On June 18, 2012 our patient, received 1244 scalp hair grafts into his strip scars. Our video demonstrates successful growth of these grafts 11 months post-op. On May 17, 2013 our patient received an additional 200 grafts into his scars to improve hair density.

Strip surgery will continue to be a large percentage of all hair transplant procedures for many years to come. We might even see a spike in strip surgeries as patients come to realize that many physicians, who offer FUE, are using unlicensed personnel to do the FUE harvesting or using a robot to extract the grafts. The results of these procedures by unlicensed individuals and robots are not as good as the results done by skilled physicians. The poor results obtained by these procedures may slow the FUE movement. Too many strip surgeons want to capitalize on the FUE demand so they are using robots and laymen to harvest their FUE grafts. It will take us time to train a new breed of physicians who place patient results and high quality surgery ahead of financial gain.
