HM...reality or not?

Postby Bradley » Fri Aug 18, 2006 5:41 pm

I havnt been on this forum for some time. Baically because I have somewhat forgotten about Hair Loss since shaving my head down about 8 months ago. Although I miss my hair, I believe for a someone who is young and experiencing hair loss, it is the first option before any surgical intervention.
In any event, I would be very interested in hearing Dr. Cole's current position on Hair Multiplication and his view on some of the companies abilities who are trying to bring it about. Thanks for your time.

hair multiplication

i expect some companies to have a cell based technology available for a hefty price tag in 3 to 5 years.

our studies on hair multiplication were with body hair. we need to study them with head hair. i was not terribly pleased with the body hair results. we transplanted body hair to the wrist, which will produce a very low yeild based on what we currently know today. it would be much more likely to produce better results if we used head hair on the head. we really do need to try this some day, but i need local patients. this was the other problem with the study. all our patients lived out of town so it was very hard to follow the results.

cell based technology will have one major flaw. you will not be able to control the direction of hair growth. the two major players right now are intercytex and aderans.
