keep body hair for future transplant use?

A general discussion about hair restoration.

keep body hair for future transplant use?

Postby sentarli » Thu Aug 17, 2006 6:48 am

I think by now most of now that people that have hairloss problem is mostly hairy(body) people. Ive got same problem, however I am intending on getting laser removal for my chest area, the question comes in laser hair removal kills the follicle never to grow again, am I killing the donor area that I might use one day??

(my friends are laughing at me, saying that I spend money to grow hair on the other hand I spend money to loose it!!! funny he;))

Yes. Electrolysis kills the hair when it is successful. Several sessions are needed to remove hair from a specific area because it is not always successful on the first zap and you have to wait for the telogens to grow into anagen phase before you can see them well enough to treat them with this method. If you have electrolysis, it does deplete your body donor resources. If you are planning on using your chest hair for transplant later, don't have electrolysis.

We use leg hair quite commonly. It really depends on the caliber of the hair. If the caliber is thick, it makes a great source. When the caliber is very fine, it will not provide as much coverage. We have used arm hair in the past. It is often times a very fine caliber. Therefore, it does not provide the coverage you might want. I would start with the best quality hair in terms of length, number of hairs per follicular unit, and widest caliber first. Then move to alternative sources. From our point of view, scalp hair is still king and should be used first.

i've rarely seen electrolysis be sucessful in killing hair. usually, it just stuns it.

hi,

Actually not Electrolysis it is Laser( the the pigment in the hair actracts the heat and the follicle is damaged in the process) I have tried it on a patch on my chest.

Leg hair I have alot of and very thick!! but how will the leg hair look on the head? does it transform to look like the other hairs on the head or will you be able to distinguish the leg hairs on the head? I also would presume that doing the procedure with leg hair will take longer?

Sorry one more questions is it possible that a persons prostate will enlargement at the age of 27?

cheers

How do you know it is prostate enlargement?
If it's prostate enlargement it requires the following symptoms:

* Slowed or delayed start of the urinary stream
* Weak urine stream
* Dribbling after urinating
* Straining to urinate
* Strong and sudden urge to urinate
* Incomplete emptying of your bladder
* Needing to urinate two or more times per night
* Urinary retention (complete inability to urinate)
* Incontinence
* Pain with urination or bloody urine (these may indicate infection)

body hair transplants

laser hair removal is sucessful, but typically takes more than one treatment. usually it takes several treatments to kill everything.

leg hair looks quite good on the scalp typically. usually it will begin to grow longer over time, but everyone is a little different. in some individuals it may not increase in length. the scalp is different tissue than the leg. the different tissue seems to affect the hair growth duration. a longer growing duration will result in longer hair.

prostate enlargement is not common in individuals under age 45 to 50.

well, 5 mg of finasteride might help this. you could have this evaluated by a urologist.

Most symptoms of BPH start gradually. One symptom is the need to get up more often at night to urinate. Another symptom is the need to empty the bladder often during the day. Other symptoms include difficulty in starting the urine flow and dribbling after urination ends. The size and strength of the urine stream may decrease.

These symptoms can be caused by other things besides BPH. They may be signs of more serious diseases, such as a bladder infection or bladder cancer. Tell your doctor if you have any of these symptoms, so he or she can decide which tests to use to find the possible cause.

these symptoms come on gradually as men age. 50% or more of men over age 50 have it. your symptoms do suggest something is going on. there are other causes to consider too such as cancer of the bladder or prostate. therefore, you should check it out with a urologist, internist, or family practitioner. Check your urine flow rate. How fast does it come out?

slow urine flow rate is the only symtom, I will take your advise by asking my family doctor.

Thanks DrCole, I ll most probably meet you one day when I come to your office for my first FIT session.

the symptom of a decrese rate of flow does not mean that you definately have an enlareged prostate or other problem. it is a sign that should be checked out. it is easy to check. the prostate will typcially feel enlarged on exam. other tests can rule in or out an elarged prostate. these include tests performed by the department of Radiology.

Proscar is the 5mg version of fianasertide in the states. Propecia is the 1mg version.

Studies did not show that 5mg did any better with regard to hair loss than the 1mg. therefore, 1 mg should be fine and more than adequate.
