How many grafts on average can you get with FIT

Postby Atlantis » Mon Jun 19, 2006 9:20 am

Hello,

I was wondering how may grafts you can harvest with FIT without a problem. I am a Norwood 4 to 5 and I have 75 to 80 density per sqcm on the back. Will I be able to harvest more than 3000 grafts with FIT or is strip a better option for me?

Thank you

FIT extractions

Your FU density is average. Generally speaking you can get 3000-4000+ in a single pass of FIT with this amount of hair but it will depend on your hair quality too. You should be able to do several thousand more with another pass. Again, I am speaking generally here.

You might consider a STRIP. But the advantage is more financial. You can get the numbers and a good result either way.

Did you get a consult with Dr. Cole yet? If not, you can contact your patient coordinator if you need more information.

To give you a frame of reference, here is 5000 scalp fit extracted in one session. This patient was a nw 6 and had slightly better than average donor density.
