Opinions on scar needed

Postby Don Reverso » Mon May 15, 2006 5:29 pm

I have had 2 FUE fill in procedures on this scar. They total 225 grafts. There are still some areas that are obvious. What do you guys think?

The picture is not in a very good quality but it doesn't look bad at all...can you show me your scar before the procedure?

The scar is not noticeable in my opinion. I would be surprised if anybody would notice it if you didn't point it out.

hey bud, seriously...it looks really good for a scar...and the only reason I can see it is because i am looking for it. Most peeps dont even know how ht's work and they dont know what the scar is all about...relax. I know its easy to obsess...i do it all the time - but maybe this will help will some reassurance...

I agree!!You have to look for it and be aware about scar from HTS.Otherwise, it doesn't attract attention.
The goal in scar grafting is not to erase it but to disguise it.The scar will be there but the new hairs will break down its contrast with the surrounding area and make it less noticeable and not neceesarely not noticeable.You should have a trained eye to see it.The majority of people will not see it.

Totally agree with Patrick;
i also think and correct me if i'm wrong that your hair is wet in this photos...i think that with dry hair your scar will be totaly undetectable...

The hair is wet, but when it is dry it actually does not look as good. I do admit that I obsess a tremendous amount about this scar. I must look at it with a side-mirror about 30 times a day. Can't help myself. With pale skin and fine black hair, I see every gap. Kills my confidence. Anyway, I know that my scar could be alot worse. Do you guys think that if I use about 100 fues from the "untouched" back of my head it would disguise it more? Do you think that 100 fues could create a nnoticeable sparse look from the donor areas?

Hi Don,

I'm with the chorus saying "great scar" don't worry, and you wear your hair very short, let it grow out another 5mm and I bet you would strugle to see it yourself.

Is it the fact that the scar is quite red still that bothers you? I mean in time it will fade, if it were more pale it would get even harder to see? How long is it since the scar was made?

I have considered body hair grafts, but have been told that they are very fine and do not all grow well. I am also concerned with scarring in the extraction areas. I have alot of chest hair,and some leg hair. What do you think? It seems like it would make sense because I eliminate further chance of scarring on the head and I can just blast away until it looks better.

It may seem red in the pic, but it actually is not that red. It may be because I had just showered/washed hair. The strip was made in 2003 and the fue's were put in 04 - and 05. I also had permanent cosmetics which helped but is starting to fade. I am bothered because I like to keep my hair short and this displays the scar to some degree. I also see the diffusion/thinning from fue, which is worrisome since I only had a total of 225 grafts. I'm not sure if this is just my healing characteristics, the doctor (wasn't Cole) or simply the nature of fue. Of course I only see this when it is cut with a 2 guard or less. I just wish to conceal this thing the best way possible without causing further scarring.

I had fue last year with Dr Cole and I really cannot see a drop off in density. In fact when I have had 1000+ hair strips I have seen very little change in my density, that said I do wear my hair a lot longer than you!

I personally would not be worried about the scarring from fue, as in my experience it is unoticable. Perhaps you could use donor hair from the neck rather than the body for a quicker result if you dont want to deplete your donor area further (although it looks quite think to me)
