At first glance, I agreed with you.

So, I used my picture software to magnify the pictures to great detail. The resolution is not high enough to see the grafted hairs themselves. A 12 megapixel camera would possibly be able to show this kind of detail, but not at the distance, angle, and lighting that these photos were taken.

The grafts that we use on the frontal hair line and single hair grafts. We like to make the appearance as natural as possible. If you closely examine your hairline, you will probably see that they are single hairs. The grafted hairs in this case are probably not shed at this point. They are also not visible unless you examine the hair line closely, and probably in person.

When this patient touches the hairline with his fingers, he will feel the small new hairs beginning to grow.

When grafts are first placed, they are visible because they have tissue around them and they are slightly above the surface of the skin. As the grafts heal, the skin around them contracts, pulling them down level with the skin. The tissues that are left above the skin, including scabs, dry and fall off. The only thing that is left after this point is the scalp and the hair(s) of the graft coming through the scalp. It is a good thing when the grafted area is not easily detectable. It indicates good healing.

I also thought that his hair looked much longer for only five days. When I magnified the picture, it is somewhat of an illusion. It is not really as long as it seems. Having his hair wet and gelled gives a great illusion of length, especially when it is combed this way. The post op pictures show his hair dry and pushed down, as we tend to push it out of our way when working on the hairline.

Try it. Magnify the picture on your computer and then tell me what you think. There are also other good quick healing pics on this site. Look around and form your opinions.
