You will see these terms used synonymously Follicular Isolation technique and Follicular Unit Extraction. Maybe some physicians perefer one term to the other.

If you go to the home page on the web site and click on FIT, there is a link to a lengthy semantic discussion (begins bottom page 2)between the techniques. Quote: "This procedure is known by many different names including follicular unit extraction (FUE), the Woods Technique, the Top Up technique, and most recently Hair Transfer (HairXFER)" Its still a bit confusing for layman like us!

FUE and FIT are "extraction techniques". They do not require strip removal. What is in a name?

FIT is a better surgery, as far as I can tell, as the results are more consistent, the FU groups have more hair, and the trancection rate is low.

FUE or FIT relates to a surgical procedure that uses extraction of the hair follicles directly. In our clinic ,we started to develop our own technique with different types of tools to control the depht of our punches , the extraction of grafts without trauma and those tools are in the process to be pattened. While in the industry ,people were claiming a transection rate of 15 to 20 %, we averaged a transection rate of 2 to 4%(which is competitive to the strip procedure and eventhough better). We wanted to make a difference betwwen our technique and what you can encounter outside. It is a brand name.I can do an analogy with cars.A SUV is a bigger car than the normal size car .But a SUV KIA is not comparable to a BMW SUV ( because of the engine performance ).It is important to associate a name to a certain quality work that we are offering in a consistent base in our group.
