Norwood 5/2000 grafts/Dr. Cole/IHTI

This 58 year old patient came to visit IHTI and Dr. Cole in 2003 with a desire to treat his Norwood 5 hair loss pattern. The patient’s low follicular density (60-70FU/cm2) and tight donor area limited the number of units that could be harvested. Despite these restrictions, Dr. Cole and the team obtained 2000 grafts in a single strip excision.

When this hair transplant recipient returned for a follow up session only a week ago, we were happy to observe the great coverage that was achieved from the first surgery. It is no small task to deliver this type of result on a stage 5 with only 2000 grafts.

I was quite interested to observe this patient’s second strip excision in the OR recently. Only later did I find out that he was not a virgin scalp. Even under close examination I was unable to detect the fine scar running through the strip and slivers.

Notice: I am not a doctor. My opinions are not necessarily those of Dr Cole. My advice is not medical advice.
