Scar heal time

How long does it take to see the final results of how the donor scar will look after a procedure? I had a procedure 2 months ago and the scar is still very large.

I understand that you had a strip procedure...who you had it with? and what do you mean by a large scar?

scar

Postby jpmacco » Wed Jun 01, 2005 11:09 am

This was the sixth procedure I had including the past two that were to revise the scar. I had the transplants done by Dr. Elliot of Elliot and True. After the last transplant there were two large linear scars approx. quarter of an inch wide (in some spots in was larger) across the back of my head. Dr. Elliot revised the scar to make it one but what remained was one scar about 1/4-1/2 an inch. I also had incredible sensitivity in two areas on the back of my head. When I would smile for a period of time I would get pain in that area and it was very tender to the touch. I saw Dr. Ross in San Diego to revise the scar. He said it would be no problem and could substantially reduce the size of the scar. I asked him about five times, making it clear I wanted him to be honest with me. He said there was a 98% chance he could do it. Now the scar is 1/2-1 inch wide, but it has only been two months since the procedure.

Update

Postby jpmacco » Fri Sep 09, 2005 10:29 am

I saw Dr. Ross and he said to wait for a year to see the final results. He said the white area near the scar has had hair fallout due to shock and would grow back. The pink area (which is minimal)is what the final scar would be.

The scar size has indeed gotten smaller. I'll update in another few months.
