Are you characterizing "libido" as your sex drive or an inability to have an erection? I've heard such of such side effects but haven't noticed any since I've been on advodart (since January of "05)?

hey tropeus,

I have been on Dutasteride for about 8 months. Yes you will experience a decreased libido, but that will go away withing 2-4 weeks. About that erection thing that you dont get in the morning, dont worry about that.

As long as your sex drive is ok, you should be just fine.

After 8 months of Dutasteride everything seems ok, i have no problems during intercourse. Maybe its because im only 22, but you never know. Give dutasteride a shot for a month or two, and if you dont like the sexual side effects, there are other treatments out there

Good luck

I got on Duta with the Dr.'s encouragement. Propecia was working okay but I wanted to try something else. My hair became softer with Advodart. Noticed a few new hairs along the hairline but nothing substantial. It does its job however, maintaining what you do have. Have not seen any side effects. I'm 25.

How is your hairline and overall density. Did you start losing hair at 22? If you did and you're 35 now, that's pretty encouraging. How bout family history hairloss?

Sounds like your hair is pretty stable but it's always good to be cautious. I wish I had jumped on propecia at 18 when I started to see some fall out.

There are more libido boosting herbs tho aren't there? Ginseng is supposed to be good, and in the UK you get a lot of herbal viagra wanabbes based around "Horny Goat Weed!!" I assume thats not the plants biological name, but if you look up say zip-vit.co.uk I'm sure you will find it.

I have been on proscar for 5 years now and I really cannt say I have noticed much difference, ether in my hair or anywhere else! But proscars function & that of duasteride is to inhibit a chemical effect of tesosterine, not the actual testosterine itself. As far as I understand it, you have just as much male sex hormone as ever when you take these drugs, just less DHT. So what explanation is there for the sexual side effects of these drugs?

Good luck with this!
