If you were to punch a single hair and not the whole graft, it would grow back because the skin will prevent the root from coming out and in most cases there are number of hairs in each graft.

If you cut the skin and remove the graft or a single hair with the root and the surrounding fat then in most cases it will not frow back.

Did you asked "what is a graft", every hair that you see on your head ia a part of a group called "graft". Most hairs naturally comes in groups, These groups contain 1,2,3,4,5,6 hairs . this hair that you have seen coming out will grow back...you can't take out the root only if you cut deep inside the skin.
The hair is probably shedding.

What you can do is to take a close up picture of the area and upload it to this post. then we can verify that it's safe...

Regrowth

Postby FITLocks » Mon Apr 11, 2005 3:42 pm

Since you did not have any genetic baldness previous to this accident, I do not think you should be overly concerned about regrowth. The very fact the some hairs are sprouting again is also a good sign.

When was the accident??
