minor work on young patient

A general discussion about hair restoration.

Raj paul,

In general hair restoration surgery is not encourage in patients under 25. I would encourage a patient to wait if they are in their very early twenties and I think Dr. Cole would agree. Each case is looked at individually so I cannot say this is a 100% hard, fast rule. How old are you? What is your hair loss pattern?

Please consider taking medications - propecia (or proscar) and minoxidil - if you are not on them already.

We do have some services available to you to evaluate your hair situation. You can post photos here, do an online consultation, or visit Dr. Cole at a seminar to do an in-person evaluation.

Dr.Cole,
Do you do minor work (<500 grafts) on young patients(<25 yrs) when required? or do You hav

e a strict age policy?

You answered your own question, Dr. Cole will try to encourage a young patient to first start treating hair loss with medication like propecia or avodart, that will put the young patient into a safe zone after one year.
If the patient has stabilize his hair loss condition and his hair characteristics, Family history ext...are good, then he will first reccomend FIT since this procedure can give the patient an undetectable donor area which will give him the option of making the right decision and have more flexibility for the future.

I've been on propecia for a month now

That's a good start and you can combine it with rogain 5%.

I have diffuse thinning over my entire crown and dandruff

I will also recommend Nizoral shampoo (2%) or Zincon.
If you also have dandruff i will use a combination of Nizoral 1% and SELSUN BLUE.
