Workinprogress,

Thanks for the response. I think that strip is still much worse than CIT, because it keeps you from wearing a short hair style. I see that the differences in scarring are visible and less visible. Is your hair loss major so you have to wear it very low? You probably could not wear it down to a #1 guard after the strips. Did you really go to Dr. Cole for a 2nd round? How many total grafts? Would you say that your case would have been better if you would have only gone with FUE? I guess that Dr. Cole has a better approach now by conducting tests.

Gamecock,

Yes I went to Dr. Cole for round two of FIT in scar, that is when the pictures were taken in 2005 for my results from the first procedure. I remember getting around 300 graphs each time. So a total of 600 or so graphs into the donor scar.
I also got graphs placed on top of my head for the remainder of the day each time. I have posted pictures of what the hair looks like shaved below. The white FIT dots go all around the donor to the temples on each side.

It actually looks much worse with a short buzz-type cut. The white FIT dots are more noticeable in the donor region due to the lack of hair in the white dots against my black hair color.

To answer your question, yes I would have been far better off getting FUE/FIT from the very beginning as opposed to strip procedures and a strip scar.

This is a better picture showing the extensive scarring I have from two days of FIT with Dr. Cole between 2004-2005. The scarring goes all around the donor region from temple to temple. I have since got all my hair removed via laser hair removal, including the FIT in the donor scar.

I basically wasted $25,000 with Dr. Cole, but what really bothers me is that I unwittingly convinced others to undergo the procedure based on my so called "results" for all these years. Just the other day a guy posted on another forum that FUE in the donor scar works and to prove his point he posted my pictures from Dr. Cole.

Like I said I truly hope Dr. Cole no longer uses my pictures to convince others to undergo FIT donor scar repair. This would be wrong and unethical.

workinprogress - I feel for what you have gone through, with the terrible scar on the back of your head. I to made the mistake of having a strip surgery when I was young and dumb. Fortunately for me I stopped at one smallish scar. I spent years agonizing over my stupid mistake until Dr. Cole gave me my life back. Yes I do have some small white dots that only i have noticed. I have tried to get my wife to see them and she can't. No one has ever said a word about the white dot scars to me. I never think about them. However I have had 3 people in two years ask me what happened to the back of my head. Not a lot I know, because Dr. Cole has done such a wonderful job hiding the scar. I still need a few graphs into the scar but it is very well hidden. I now shave my head with a balding cut and it looks great. The only signs of a HT are from my first experience and they are 95% gone thanks to Dr. Cole. Dr. Cole has had to come behind someone else and try to fix their work. otherwise it would be 100% undetectable. I think with a little more work I will be 99% undetectabel. After years of agonizing over my HT i almost never think of it. I am no longer afraid to meet old friends or make new friends. From the pictures I have seen of you it appears that the one who did the damage to you was the first doctor. Given the resources at hand Dr. Cole did all he could do with what the first doctor left him with.
