Appearance after hair transplant

The answer to this question vary on each individual and it depends on the patient skin color, hair texture, hair growth, Healing time, The Doctor, The technique, and also depends on the way you treat it ...
Your fair skin is not going to help you to heal faster since the area will be red in the first few days and then pink for about 1-3 month.
Donor area:I guess that you are going to use the strip method which is more invasive then the FIT/FUE method by producing a scar that can be notcible and reddish while with the FIT you will have small dots for 1-2 weeks, the hair is growing longer in the donor area and covers the small dots and usually after 1 week those little dots disapiring leaving the donor area undetectable.
with the strip you will also feel tight in the donor area for a while...the scar may or may not stresch after couple of years.
Also, with fit and fue you can resume a more active life style immediately. with strip surgery you need to avoid heavy exertional and contact sport activity due to the risks to the donor area.
You can use GraftCyte or Hair Structure healing products to fasten the healing in the Donor area.
The receipt area:
You can expect scabs for the first 1-2 weeks. you will need to help the scabs fall by smoothly rubbing ( not scratching or picking) the area. When the scabs falls the area will be pinkish for a while and usually after 1-3 month the area looks cleaner.

Forhair has done a very good job of describing the first two weeks of recovery. What you can expect over the next 8-12 months is growth. A little at a time. At 3 months you will see about 30% growth, at 6 months you will see about 60% growth and at 8 months you will see about 80% growth. These percentages are +/- depending on many varying factors.
I hope this information has answered your question.

Strip and FIT

Postby FITLocks » Thu Dec 16, 2004 11:17 pm

I assume this 1400 g surgery is strip, yes? Strip is a good HT surgery as it is very efficient and quick. Some people will find it objectionable with regards to scarring and healing time though. It seems to me that if you need 1400 fu's via strip you should do one surgery and not 3 as you proposed. If you plan to do surgery with Dr. Bernstein you need to bring your concerns to his attention but I think he will agree that one strip is best for you.

Understand that every strip you do compromises the next. It creates scars, tightens that scalp, and lowers the donor hair density. Every strip requires healing time, suture/staple removal, etc.

FIT harvesting does not compromise future harvests. Healing times is small and the scarring is minimal. The surgery will take longer though.

If you fully understand your options with strip and FIT and you still wish to do three small surgeries, FIT would probably be better for you. FIT can be performed as a big surgery aswell.

This is a quote from an e-mail i got from a patient today, I hear it all the time from our patients, and i quote:

"Thank you for the follow-up, I am home and recovering well. The donor area healed faster than I could have ever imagined, after day 2 my girlfriend said she couldn't tell anything had been done there."

This says it all...with the FIT method the recovery is faster, there is no visible scarring, and the results are excellent...what more can you expect from a good hair transplant...
