Underarm hair as donor source?

A general discussion about hair restoration.

Underarm hair can be harvested via FIT. I'm not sure, however, if the doctor has done very much of this. I think scalp, chest, stomach, back, and leg have more cases at the moment.

BHT can and has been performed via strip but not with Dr. Cole. Scalp strip is efficient in the sense that scalp has thick(er) hair at high density. This means a small strip can yield big numbers. Chest hair, for example, is usually not as thick or dense. The ratio of the amount of hair extracted to the size of the strip removed isn't favorable with body hair.

With scalp strip a single scar can be concealed with surrounding hair. Not so with body hair.

Now to your question about underarm strip. If a person did not have hair in this area it could cause irritation as this is a part of the body where skin rubs on skin. Hair is a "lubricant" of sorts. Yes, you could conceal this scar but FIT would be a better and less invasive choice.

The role of BHT is unfolding quickly in the world of hair restoration. Bht should be approached with FIT or FUE as these methods are better to the body and more efficient than strip.

To do a strip on the body is a bad idea. The Whole idea of the scalp strip is to minimize the strip scar and get the most fu's out of it.
I don't know how effective a Underarm transplant will be, If i recall Dr. Jones try it in the past...i didn't see any proof that it is working well.
I will refer this question to Dr. cole, i also want to ask if any damage can occur to the "Apocrine sweat glands" if you work in the Underarm area.
BTW: Thanks for the kind words! We will never stop working and making this website better.

underarm hair transplant surgery

Some people feel that strip surgery under the arms can cause damage to glands. i do not think this is a major concern.

regarding underarm hair as a source, it is a very good source. You can do strips, though you can take more with less scarring via FUE or FIT. underarm hair typically grows longer than hair on other parts of the body. i find it is a little more difficult to remove underarm hair than some other regions of body hair, but it is possible to remove it, it grows long, and it grows quite nicely.
