bumps after hair transplant

Postby forhair » Mon Nov 08, 2004 11:33 pm

BUMPS CAN OCCUR WHEN THE NEW HAIR IS BEGINNNG TO GROW. IT IS PRIMARILY A REACTION TO THE HAIR FIBERS, WHICH ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME PASSING THROUGH TO THE SURFACE OF THE SKIN. THEY ARE SELF LIMITING AND IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT OR PROHIBIT REGARDLESS OF THE TRANSPLANT TECHNIQUE. OF COURSE THERE ARE WAYS TO INCREASE THIER PROBABILITY THROUGH POOR TECHNIQUES SUCH AS BURYING THE GRAFTS. POOR TECHNIQUES SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COST.

It might be small pimples pumping out around the transplant area.
this is common and in most cases they will fade away definitely after 9 month post-op.
The cause to this fenamunal is the new hair that are growing try to brake through the skin surface and they are pulling the skin with them. if you saw big bumps, then it might be in-grown hairs (hairs that grow but never break the skin because of their angulation, curl, etc. They become "trapped" inside the scalp and the body forms a reaction with redness and they can be pop out and fixed by the hair transplant surgeon.
