How many Grafts Forhair or Dr Cole plz?

Postby orrible* » Sun Oct 10, 2004 2:43 pm

Just wondering if you could have a look at the picture and let me know how many grafts you think could be obtained from my chest and abdomen? My head donor hair is only 130 (180 cm² average)
Follicular Units……. 50 (80 average)
so im keen to know how many more grafts this body hair could potenitally give me?

Many thanks for your time and input.

Horrible,
I would say approx. 3500-4500 grafts.

hair transplant grafts

Postby drcole » Fri Oct 15, 2004 8:37 am

this is every easy to calculate. simply measure the density in multiple regions. multiply the average density by the overall surface area and you have the result.

on the chest you have about 4000 to 5000, maybe more.

on the abdomen, i suspect you have a similar number of grafts.

most typically will be one hair and some two hairs. three hair grafts do exist on the chest, but they are rare.

i can do this calculation for you if you like and will be very happy to do so.

First off I’d like to thank Dr Cole & forhair (im 23) for their input. Its much appreciated, and I posted this before I saw your response on hlh Dr Cole, so sorry to ask again. I haven’t checked the post since I made it as I thought id set up an email request so it would mail me if I had a response, but I mustn’t have done it right.

Its good to know that I have the extra donor available. I recently buzzed the chest hair off and when it grows back I notice i have a lot of two hair grafts but haven’t spotted any three’s.

Dr Cole when we met before you thought I would end up around a Norwood 2vertex. I have taken these shots recently of my hair when soaking wet and also dry. Do you think my hairloss pattern is looking like it may be headed for worse now? It’s been about 8 months since I saw you.

Hey Luck nice of you to say so. Didn’t know I had a fan base:) My posts are usually just my erratic ramblings but glad someone enjoys it.

BTW i will measure various areas and let you know how i get on.

future hair loss

Postby drcole » Mon Oct 25, 2004 10:59 pm

congratulations. i recall you from our visit. seems like i recall you wearing a Dodgers hat.

You do not appear to have more hair loss at this time. i am happy to hear that you have many two hair clusters on your chest. you certainly have a bountiful supply of chest hair. this may prove valuable for you over time. for the present, i would still encourage you to treat your potential hair loss medically. surgery is not necessary at this time. you are certainly not a 2V at this time.

Hi Dr Cole

Many thanks for your response. Im impressed you remember me from those shots as my hairs about 10 inches shorter now, than when i last saw you with my Dodgers cap on.

Do you think with my low hair donor density 50cm2 & 130cm2 but with the additional body hair i would be able to keep up with my hairloss with surgery? I suppose i would like to know how high risk i am of running out of donor before being able to complete restoration to a level of non balding look should i reach that stage.

Im about to start proscar cut into 5ths. I will probably start taking the pill every other day and see how i go. I read a post on HLH where their is debate about propecia and BHT, where propecia may reduce body hair? What are you thoughts on this, and if it does indeed reduce body hair would this affect a body hair plant?

many thanks once again
