ADVANCED IN HAIR TRANSPLANT REPAIR SURGERY

Postby forhair » Thu Aug 12, 2004 12:54 pm

We have a new article followed with photos of a plug repair case. He recently came back to remove some more plugs as he wish to "just shave the head and look normal again". He has a very thin scar which enable him to shave the head after the plugs removal.

Can the plusgs just be pulled out and the head shaved? Is there anything that then can be done to get rid of the old scars so you can shave your head.

I sounds so easy when you say it...it's not :)
Plug repair is a very tough work, If you have a large balding area, lets say... norwood 6 and you can't financially afford to fill up the area with a large amount of grafts plus removing some of the plugs and you also have a thin scar, then it is a good option to just remove the old plugs...pepper the hairline and the thin scar with some FIT...after a year when the results of the procedure are noticable just shave your head and forget about it.
The other option is to do a big procedure including implantation of FIT grafts from the donor or BHT, removal of plugs, and correction of the hairline to be soft and natural ...sometimes the surgeon can use the removed plugs by splitting them to singles and implanting them around the hairline and the top of the head.

hair repair surgery

every case is different and every result a little different. some are much harder than others. every case must be evaluated on its own.

sometimes you may need to resurface the scalp after we remove the plugs because of the slight indentations that plugs can leave. laser skin resurfacing may be an option that you need to consider. sometimes, removing the plugs alone is all that must be done.

one must understand that repair work is the most difficult work that we do.
