Hair Loss Treatment

Postby hardyalex011 » Tue Jun 21, 2011 12:30 am

Hi guys, I am having really bad hair loss because of my thyroid problem. My hair has become really thin. I was planning on getting a surgical hair restoration done, but am worried whether the procedure is very painful. Has anyone here done it. Can you please explain the procedure to me. Also can you suggest a reputed place in Toronto where I can get it done.

Wouldn't say it's painful, only the injections to numb the area. If you have an underlying medical condition, I wouldn't consider a Hair transplant at all. I've been in the chair a fair few times now, and personally I'd recommened you shave your head first and see if you like how it looks, because You won't be able to do that afterwards, even with modern day fue there WILL still be visible scarring.
I thought getting a hair transplant was going to make my life better but it didn't, I'd pay anything to turn back the clock and never of had this done, and mine does look natural. No matter what I do I will always have had a hair transplant, I can never change the fact that I did this and it sucks!

It's only have, take some hindsight from me and accept that you may go bald and that it doesn't matter.

4 Bad doctors, no need to name them, 2 of them have been struck off the medical register. I have started repair with a well known good doctor that Dr Cole has worked with. He uses a 0.75 fue tool, and although the scars are tiny, they are still scars. I would have to shave quite short to see them though.

You need to get the thyroid problem under control before considering a transplant. I think the procedure is very easy for most patients, but some patients seem to be very sensitive to the anesthesia shots. I feel really bad for them when this happens. Fortunately, it does not happen often. I don't know why some people feel the injections more than others. Perhaps it is their sensitivity to the anesthetic, which is slightly acidic. Perhaps their body pH is slightly higher than others. I really don't know. I do know that we proceed very slowly with the injections to minimize the pain. Once the injections are in, the procedure does not hurt because you are numb. Some feel discomfort the night of the procedure in the top of their scalp and some in the back. i tell people to start taking Advil 200 to 400 mg right after the procedure to help stay ahead of any pain. This regimen seems to work better than taking narcotics when and if you feel pain. Many do not have any discomfort at all.
