scarring

Postby ounce999 » Tue Aug 10, 2010 12:28 pm

Hi, i was wondering if Dr Cole has done any research regarding the use of topical creams, etc. that use silicon to reduce scarring... I use a product called "scar fade" that works pretty well whenever i apply it to recent cuts/scars. I was wondering if using something like this could reduce scarring after a hair transplant surgery... or if its not safe to use on transplanted hairs. I was just wondering becuause one of my main concerns with having the surgery is scarring afterward. it seems to me like my cuts dont heal as quickly as they should usually and i think that they scar more than they should... if its a minor cut, the scar usually goes away with time, but im concerned with having scars on my head. I know dr cole uses very fine instruments though, and i heard or read somewhere that the scalp gets a lot of blood which usually helps it heal faster.... thoughts? input?

I will have to ask Dr. Cole specifically about the "Scar Fade" product you mentioned but he does recommend two specific products which promote quick healing and minimize any type of surgical scarring: Hair Cycle Post Biotin Spray and Hair Cycle Post Surgical Gel. The Biotin Spray should be applied immediately following surgery, and reapplied every hour after that. This product allows wounds to stay moist and therefore heal faster, with less threat of scabbing and/or scarring. The Surgical Gel further promotes healing, and the prevention of scars, in the donor area. You can read more about both products, and find them for purchase, here:
