The patient in these photos had undergone a strip procedure with another physician. This patient would ultimately like to be able to wear his hair very short and therefore approached Dr. Cole with his goal to conceal the strip scar along the back of his head. Scar grafting is a common procedure at our clinic and involves Dr. Cole using his CIT method to place grafts into the scar. Although scar tissues does not “take” grafts as well as virgin scalp, Dr. Cole’s scar grafting method via CIT is generally quite effective at camouflaging strip scars by adding density and pigmentation.
Dr. Cole used non-shaven CIT (C2G) to place 250 grafts in this patient’s strip scar. These results show the significant improvement at 7 months post-op. Scar grafting can often take more than one session to achieve optimal results and this patient opted to have another 134 grafts placed in the scar on the day his follow-up photos were taken. We look forward to seeing the continued improvement as the newest grafts grow in and we’re excited to report that this patient already has more confidence in wearing his hair short.
