Blow drying hair postop?

Postby dfwguy » Tue Mar 10, 2009 9:40 pm

How soon after my procedure will I be able to start using the blow dryer to dry my hair again? Even with the air drying is directly on the recipient area?

hair dryers after hair transplant surgery

There is no evidence that hair dryers are casing thinning hair. However, after hair restoration you should avoid hot conditions including direct hit from the sun, you should avoid direct sunlight for 6 months by wearing a hat or sunscreens. Just to be safe i would start using the hair dryer after 3 weeks but as long as you don't linger in an area too long to burn the scalp it is ok to use it from day 1. I would use it from a distance and with lower temperature(Cool and not WARM/HOT).

blow drying after hair transplant

You can begin blow drying your hair the day after the procedure. Use a cool setting only because your scalp may still have numbness from the procedure so you may not feel the dryer if it gets too hot. You could inadvertently burn your scalp if you do not feel the heat. The air will not harm the grafts or anything else. Once your feeling returns to normal, you can resume using a warm setting.
