consultation with Dr. Armani

Postby kkraj » Mon Dec 08, 2008 2:35 pm

Hi im new to this site I had a consultation with Dr armani yesterday

I was surprised to hear but he said i dont have enough donor hair he could only do 2500 session adn then follow up with 1,000 later on the hairline

im 23 years old i really thought i had good density on the side and back i was really surprised when he said im also losin from the donor area and he told me not to buzz my hair anymore since the buzzer is not good . i'm not on any medications didn't want to be because of the side effects but he told me to get on it. I thought i was a norwood 4 but when i asked him of getting a transplant at a young age and how everyone doesnt recommend it since you dont know how far your hair loss would go he said for me i have reached nearly the end of my hair loss im like 1 1/2 scare from it so it doesn't matter.

should i get the 2500 for the hairline i did my research for 6 months and went to him .....i dont care if he charges alot but he charges alot because hes confidence and i just want good work done..............i asked what can i do to get the coverage i was hoping for (6500) he said wait untill gene therepy or stem cell development he said hes working hard on it and it should be out . but i dont see it for another 5 years....... please advise

reality of hair transplant

I really would contact the clinic and ask them if they have similar cases that you could see. You should highly consider using some topicals to maintain what hair you currently have. At 23 years of age, you should not have any aggressive hair transplant procedure. It is in your best interests not to pursue any hair transplant procedures because you will be committing yourself to more than one procedure. You should plan on losing more hair at any given time. That said; imagine having hair on the frontal hair line with very little hair behind it. Imagine having an island of hair on the crown with balding around it. These are important considerations to have before any procedure. Both the hair transplant surgeon and patient need to have a long-term plan of resolution. A plan of resolution will entail long-term & short-term goals without over-harvesting your donor area. The surgeon should have an exit strategy for the patient so that the results will remain looking natural even if no further surgery is desired by the patient. Your goals should realistic and you should weight the pros and cons after you do much more researching about progressive hair loss. Please give us a call before you undergo any hair transplant procedure because you should be afforded the education that is pertinent and in your best interests.

Hi,

You could always give a few natural products a try. Products like saw palmetto, vitamins, and hair products that have anagen stimulators like those in the Haircycle product line. These products reduce the effects of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) by allowing your hair to grow and remain in the active growth phase for a longer period of time. I hope you can understand that you must act now if you want to maintain the hair you currently have for a longer period of time.

Yours truly,

I think you might be as well going to your local health food store and looking for saw palmetto based 'male' pills- an enlarged prostate can be improved by saw palmetto reducing the ability of androgen's to 'stick' to the prostate- it is infered that it can do the same for the hair.

I take two saw palmetto pills from a UK company called zip vit (the pills are called 'prostate plus and have 8 mg of zinc) but there is no point getting them to ship overseas- you will have a local cheaper alternative for sure!!

Other good hair vitamins are sea kelp, a b vitamin complex, you could go for fish or flax oil, MSM etc!

That said I would really give some thought to proscar- which is very cheap these days and has a long history of use- your very young for a ht and I think you might need to buy yourself some time to think. A bad ht is far worse and obviously much harder to reverse than simply coming on or off some drugs

Good luck and keep posting- there are a lot of people out there in the same boat
