CIT 4 Months Post Op Question About Growth (1640 Grafts)

Postby DCJ » Sat Aug 02, 2008 11:20 pm

Hi Forhair and Members,

I am roughly 17 weeks(4 months) post op with Dr. Cole and had 1640 grafts in the frontal Zone and forelock area. I was reading a previous post that mentiond transplanted hair can lie dormant up to 25 weeks before growing. Is this the case often for the hair to take that long to start growing in the recipient area? Does the hair line normally take longer as well? At 4 months post op, should I be worried if I have not had a lot of growth yet? It seems one side of the hair line has not started yet. What is the normal yield percentage that one would expect of the transplanted hairs.....example: 90%----95%...lower or higher?? Any thoughts or advice? Thanks for your time :) .

Thanks,

DCJ

That is true. There is no formula here...some patients get faster growth and some are slower. The fact that many of our patients noticed hair growth at 4 months post-op doesn't indicate that every patient would.
The final results are evident only at 1 year post-op and sometimes even more.
Every patient should expect to see some early growth at 6 months post-op. if you see it before than it's a bonus.
I suggest you to take a big breath and wait till 6 months post-op. We will always be happy to assist you.
