Breaking up minigrafts

Postby RickH » Fri Feb 01, 2008 9:21 pm

I have minigrafts (4 to 6 hairs each, I think) hidden behind much better Dr Cole work :D , and I am interested in breaking them up and, if necessary, re-angling them. When this sort of dissection is done, is the minigraft removed, divided, and then one of the units put back in the same site it was removed from? Or is that opening too large, requiring the follicular units be put in new sites?

Also, what percentage of hair from the minigrafts should I expect will fail to regrow once the minigraft is broken up?

There is not one way to approach debulking plugs/mini/micros... there are many different ways and Dr. Cole will determine once he starts working which approach will work best... each plug/mini/micro can differ in how it must be debulked... The goal is to leave some portion of the follicular unit/s behind in order to debulk it and make it appear more natural... unless you are going for a full removal. Most of the time Dr. Cole will use the FIT/CIT extraction to remove the FU's... they can then be re-implanted elsewhere... One thing to be aware of is that the color of the plug/micro/mini and the color of the surrounding scalp are different... This is a very difficult and time consuming procedure but will give you the best cosmetic achievement towards a more natural look...
