Propecia Hair Loss side affects

Postby drcole » Thu Jan 10, 2008 5:26 pm

It would be very unlikely that you would experience impotence 9 days after taking Propecia. It takes at least one month to build up theraputic blood levels of finasteride. Finasteride levels also dissappear after 3 months of stoping the medication. You might want to consider a urological evaluation. If you are experiencing nocturnal erections, you are not impotent. One way to check this is to paste postage stamps around your penis when you go to sleep. If the ring is broken in the morning, you are functioning normally.

Less serious side effects of Propecia may include:

feeling like you might pass out;
swelling in your hands or feet;
pain in the testicles;
impotence, loss of interest in sex, or trouble having an ***;
abnormal ejaculation;
swelling or tenderness in your breasts;
dizziness, weakness;
headache;
runny nose; or
skin rash.

Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.

Can anyone tell me if Propecia has any adverse effects on the liver. I have a condition called primary sclerosing cholangitis and have some reservation about taking propecia due to claims i've read online that it can
raise liver enzymes?

Actually Propecia doesn't have bad influence over healthy liver. But if you have liver disease, you may not be able to take Propecia, or you may need a lower dose or special monitoring during treatment. This depends on your doctor's advice.
