I need a doctor´s advise

A general discussion about hair restoration.

I need a doctor´s advise

Postby curly » Sun Nov 04, 2007 7:09 am

I will do a HT soon, i need to fill up my temples.
I already had a consultation online in your clinic.

Can you recommend me other medical things, except finasterid.

I started to take it and hair was thinning out in front more quickly after one month taking it.

Do you think this is from the drug? I already heard about this phenomenon in different forums. Thinning out the front from propecia.

Could you please give me an advise? I don´t want to make things worse.

Thanks Curly

Curly,

I have not personally heard of the phenomenon you describe where hair sheds with the start of finasteride. Avodart (Dutasteride) is another drug, which unlike finasteride is able to block both types of dht. The two types are 5 alpha reductase I and II. In addition to this there are some topical medications such as, spironaloctone, Azaelic Acid and Retonoic Acid (Retin-A). I would suggest that you research your options. Hair Cycle products and Nizoral are options you should probably consider closely. I hope this helps.

With Propecia, shedding can occur the first 3 months. It is a good sign because it means your hairs are getting now into a new cycle and the medication will help to maintain that cycle longer and stimulate hair growth at the same time.

The worst thing is to stop taking Propecia when the shedding appear because you may loss definitely those hairs and your new cycle won't get any benefit.

I will suggest to continue on propecia and add Rogaine foam 5 % to your medical therapy. I also encorage you to try Haircycle shampoo and conditioner. It will help to slow down the hair loss process.

Hair Cycle products contain all-natural, topical 5-alpha reductase inhibitors and androgen receptor blockers that help to prevent the conversion of testosterone to DHT—without unpleasant side effects. Please check www.haircycle.com

Yes, but i am really afraid to make things more worse.
There are really many many people who take propecia, and their frontal hair is getting thinner much faster than before. And that over a long time.
Some of them over a year and front is thinning.

Any other things to take, in order to make a HT? Or can i do a HT only with taking Propecia?

At the moment i use nutrition supplements such as Zinc, Biotin, Vit B, fenugreek seed-tea, nizoral shampoo which contains ketonazol, and spiro cream.

What do you think??

Curly,

I talked with Dr. Cole personally about your concerns. You are in a very normal initial phase that Propecia produces. Please try to stay with it. That you are shedding indicates the Propecia is beginning to work. The Follicle is beginning to produce a new hair to replace the one it is shedding. I can put you in touch with our Senior Consultant Mark. He can discuss his experience with Propceia. He uses it daily.

Thank you for the fast reply, but is it also normal that normal long hair i shedding, not the short miniaturizised ones?

Have you heard about the cases where people have shedding also after on year using it and hair is still thinning?

Hi Curly,

If you have just started with Propecia and are experiencing hair loss, that is a good sign. Some patients, when they start this medication, have an acceleration of hair loss. It is for a short time and they don't have to stop the medication. The benefit and the full effect happen 1 year later.

Finasteride and Minoxidil 5% are the two major medications to slow down the hair loss progress and you should be on it for at least two years to assess the benefit. After the first year, the medication reaches its effectiveness level. As you know, Rogaine helps to promote hair growth and Propecia helps stop additional hair loss.

Taking Propecia is a personal decision. You do not need to take it in order to have a hair transplant. However, we always encourage our patients to take a medical therapy to keep the result of the hair transplant surgery for longer time. This will help you to stabilize your hair loss and get a maximum benefit for your surgery.

I will encourage you to add Rogaine application to your Propecia and hair cycle products to get the maximum benefits. Keep using the nutrition supplements and Nizoral shampoo.

If you want to try HairCycle, you can use Nizoral shampoo 3 times a week and the rest of the time you can use hair cycle which help to stimulate hair growth and prolong hair cycle.

Regards,

There are not any Haircycle retail store in Europe. However, we can ship the products to you. It usually takes 5 business days to deliver the package with USPS.

We can also send you Rogaine Foam. I heard you can not find it in Europe :(
