How many hairs will you average in your hair transplant?

Postby drcole » Mon Oct 01, 2007 8:05 pm

We averaged 4.1 hairs per follicular group on this patient. The patient has a large number of 5 hair six hair groups along with multiple 3 and 4 hair groups. With our FIT procedure, we average 2.7 hairs per follicular group. Strip surgery averages 2.0 hairs per graft. As usuall, FIT offers a greater value for you money. Our version of FIT is called CIT.

The advantage with the FIT or Cole technique is that we can get a high number of hairs per graft because of the flexibility in graft selection. It means that for the same amount of graft (with a strip or FUE), we get a high number of hairs, therefore a high volume of hairs and a better coverage!

Strip is cheaper that FUE/FIT and the procedure is faster. Dr. Cole prefers to perform FIT because he can pick the biggest follicular units for you and get the most hair out of 1000 grafts with FIT vs. Strip. He can also get the smaller neck nape area hair for hairline rather than the really big, heart of the donor area hair.

Strip is an invasive surgery. Strip is the way to go when a large number of grafts are needed, but only if one is prepared for the possibility that the strip scar could be wide and unacceptable.
