BHT Crown Results Pictures

When patients have advanced hair loss, there is not enough available scalp donor hair to cover the entire bald area. Many times, the goal is to reestablish the hairline and frontal third because there is just not enough scalp hair left to cover the crown. Here is a patient who used body hair in combination with scalp hair in order to extend his available donor resources and attain his hair transplant goals. The body hair was placed mostly in the crown over the course of a few sessions. The pictures below show the progress thus far.

For extensive restoration, we typically will save the crown for the last step. The frontal third and hair line are usually of higher priority as it frames the face and there are limitations to what can be restored based on the amount of available donor.

I can't wait to see how his crown develops in the coming months. He might need one more pass of BHT to really thicken things up. Only time will tell.

Hi Jessica,

I'm thinking long term here due to your previous wondrous work, but I remember when you were starting with BHT, you (well someone at IHTI, my visits to Atlanta were always busy affairs) thought it would take 2 years to see the full cosmetic effect compared to 1 year max for scalp hair. This patient seems to be doing quite nicely after 1 year so whats the best estimate at the moment for body hair grafts becoming cosmetically useful to the typical (!) patient!

Also are there any observations on the relative merits different bits of the body? leg Vs arm Vs back? Do they behave the same way?

thanks again & hope you are all doing well
