Propecia vs Avodart

Postby recker » Tue May 29, 2007 7:18 pm

I have been on propecia for three years now. It still seems to work ok but I was wondering if avodard may be a better choice. I have heard good things about it. Any recemendations?

Is is ok to just switch from one day to the next or do you need to take it slow?

Does anyone alternate both advodart and propecia? Is there any advantage to this method?

i do not think people do this in general. avodart will block both 5 alpha-reductase types one and two. once a week may be enough because it has a very long half life. one or the other is acceptable. i would not mix them.

If I were you I would never take both (Propecia + Avodart). Side effects could be dangerous...

Avodart

Postby chicagochas » Sun Mar 16, 2008 6:40 am

I've used Avodart since September 2006 for my hair loss. I waited over a full year before going to Dr. Cole for my CIT procedure. His first consult in October 2006 was for approximately 3400 grafts. After using Avodart for a year, I only had 1,300 grafts. I'm (or was) a class 3-4 going to class 5. I tried Propecia for 6 months prior to switiching to Avodart so it may have had a little effect. I certainly experience some side effects from of Avodart; namely decrease in semen and a slight increase in the size of my chest, of course that could be from the body building as well. Now I'm going the following routine exactly; Hair Cycle Shampoo daily, 5% minoxidil 2x daily, and .5mg Avodart daily, having added the minoxidil and hair cycle after my surgery.

It's only been two months so I'll post pics in another month or two.
