if using a 1mm guage to remove the folicular units from the donor area does this remove the skin as well. If so then for 1000 grafts this would result in skin removal of 100 cm...no?

Hi Tingle,
I will suppose you want to know the surface of skin you will remove for 1000 grafts.
A punch of 1mm will remove 0.785 mm2 of skin.
For a 1000 grafts,you will remove 785 mm2 of skin which is 7.85 cm2.

Thanks patrick for the reply.

Does this amount of skin removal cause any problems with stretching of the skin. I ask this as i read in a forum on another site that the effect can be like having a face lift. Is this the case?

No, you can't.
When you do a strip ,you have to pull the edges and bring them together(that may cause a traction and end up with a lift). In FIT you don't have any traction of the skin whatsoever;the scarring process doesn't have any impact such as tightness of the surrounding zone.
