How long to wait before 2nd pass...?

Postby greeneclipse » Tue Mar 20, 2007 11:21 pm

How long do I need to wait before going in for a second pass?

is it safe to go back in after 4-5 months from the first pass?

post hair transplant planning

It all depends on your growth. Some grow much quicker than others. If you are a quick grower, you might do a second pass between the 3rd and 4th month. This would be uncommon, though. Others should get a second pass between 6 and 12 months. The longer you wait, the more time you give the first session to mature. Sometimes you find that by waiting, you do not need a second pass. if your goal is maximal density, i would say that the 6 month mark is a pretty good time to do a second procedure.

LOL
The site gave you the "no it all" rank but then you had to ruin it by asking more silly questions :)
just kidding...the density goal in the first session is to get anywhere between 40-50% per cm2, then depends on the surface area go with another session of 30% that will put you in the 80-100 zone.
Some people are finished after the first session because they have a small balding area and the first 50% density is enough to cover it.

:D yeah i really give the game away when i post. Still im a know it all in my avatar and im happy with that.

Just wondering why do two passes to get the high density as opposed to just one? Is there a disadvantage to with like 70 or 80 straight out?

thanks again.

hair transplant graft count

Postby drcole » Thu Mar 22, 2007 10:02 pm

There is no down side to 70 or more follicular units per sq. cm except that you will seldom grow all 70. if you consider that the donor area is limited and hair loss is progressive, it is probably in your best interest to shoot for a lower density where the yeild will likely be better. i've seen plenty of guys who claimed they got nearly 100 per sq cm at another physician's office, but when you look at them only 50 per sq cm are growing. that's the down side.
