Plug Redistribution Questions

Postby loganasaurus » Sun Mar 11, 2007 2:47 am

When de-chunking larger grafts how do you decide what to redistribute and what to leave intact. I have some larger grafts. They are providing some bulk, but I would prefer that all or part of them be redistributed. I saw one answer Dr. Cole gave about this where I think he said you don't get a 100 percent return when redistributing, but is there a happy medium, where maybe you remove and redistribute some completely, some partially and maybe leave some intact?

Logan,

I believe you are on the right track. Dr. Cole has, in fact, stated that you don't quite get 100% back in the redistribution process. Still this is a very exciting application of FIT. It is important to take this question on a case by case basis, because it is highly variable as to how Dr. Cole will proceed in repair cases. I have enclosed a link to a relevant post from Dr. Cole. I would suggest an online consultation if you have not done so already, so you can receive information tailored to your particular situation.

logan,

All depend of your final goal..If you want to have more hair, you should consider to add new grafts to camouflag the pluggy look. Doctors can remove the big plugs in a second procedure if needed..

Removal takes usually more than one session and it depends on your final goal. Our doctors can extract those grafts with the FIT technique.

It is important for patient to understand that a second pass is require when performing a removal case. We will take off the maximum to improve the look and then we may have to do a touch later on to finish the job.
