Can smoking casue anagen effluvium? I have the short, prickly hairs consistent with this condition with no real pattern loss. These hair do not grow and are the only ones that shed from the scalp. The hairs are thick and consistent with what you would see with beard hair in terms of thickness. I have had this condition for a few years and it is consistent with when I started smoking. I recently quit the habit and I was wondering if this hair will grow back.
