Shaven Donor Area after 1,400 FIT

Postby FITLocks » Tue Jan 09, 2007 12:10 pm

“Will I be able to shave my head after FIT?” That is a question that we often hear from patients.

Some patients are able to completely shave down after FIT while others are only able to wear there hair very short. It very much depends on the individual, their characteristics, and their ability to heal.

FIT, like FUE and STRIP, will leave scarring. This will usually register to the eyes as a gap between follicular units within the donor area. There is in fact a gap when a graft is harvested. The great advantage to FIT is that it leaves the donor area far less noticeable that a strip scar. So, while we cannot leave the donor region perfect, we can leave it very inconspicuous.

I have enclosed a photos of a shaved donor area to illustrate some of these points. The area was clipped down to the nub one year after a 1400 graft harvest. All of the extractions were concentrated on the back of the scalp.
