What qualifies someone for a BHT? Is this like a last resort? Why dont more people do it?

My belief is that scalp hair is always the first line of treatment. Body hair is a second line that does not seem to be as good as scalp hair. We are still learning how to increase the survival rate of body hair. It is going to take time to work out all the details. As the details evolve, we may be able to produce more consistent results overall. For instance, it has become clear that densities below 30 grafts per square cm are probably going to yeild better results than higher densities.

The first thing to be considered is the type and quantity of body hair the person possesses. Then... because the yield is less than scalp and the growth cycle is more than double that of scalp... it is mostly used in combination with scalp. However, if there is no scalp donor left to use then we can use body hair exclusively but as Dr. Cole stated the outcomes are variable on body hair transplantation so much research must be done before moving forward.

well put, but one important point to recognize is that we are dilgently working to uncover the variables that increase the overall yeild and result. one variable is to use anagen hairs and the second is to transplant at densities of 30 per sq cm or lower.
