Question for Dr. Cole about dense packing

Postby lou2316 » Sun Aug 27, 2006 9:42 pm

Hello -

I know Doc Cole doesn't like to dense pack above 50, but what if he's simply refining an already HT hairline (in otherwords, we're not dealing with wispy hairs more prone to shock loss). Does that change things. I'm asking because I'm a NW1 right now after a previous dense pack surgery, and simply want to refine the hairline without losing the density (approx 600 grafts). However, I DO NOT want to have to have another TWO surgeries to reach my final results. Thank you in advance for your response.

dense packing hair transplant

i have no problem dense packing 50 or more grafts per square centimeter. i've done it quite sucessfully for years. the problem is that recent studies show that sometimes the yeild will drop to 73% when you go above 30 grafts per square centimeter. if you are only a class 1, you can probably take that risk. if the yeild is a little lower than you would like, you can always add more later. i think the class 4 to 7 needs to be more careful. here, if the yeild is a little light, you don't have the follicles to spare.
