Does all hair eventually recede behind a hair transplant?

Postby newly balding » Fri Jun 03, 2005 2:02 pm

I'm thinking of having a hair transplant and am concerned that the hair will eventually recede behind a hair transplant making it look ridiculous - is this true?

It can happened, thats why young guys that are strong into a hair loss progression should be more careful. If you are in your late 20's and you take Propecia/Minoxidil/Avodart there is a big chance that you will be able to maintain your existing hairs. If you are not on any hair loss medications yet, i will strongly advise you to start now if you are looking into hair transplant solution.
How old are you?

I'm 30 and a Norwood 2/3. The only problem is that I can't take propecia or proscar due to side effects. Does this rule me out of having a transplant

Many thanks

If you can't take the pills, minoxidil may be a good choice to maintain some hair...possibly saw palmetto as well.

I'm getting depression - it literally started and stopped exactly when I was taking the medication

Hi there newly balding, you can add proscar to your minoxidil, too, which might be worth a shot, less or no sides & far more localized effect (I do both!)

I have always said that the preffered solution is to shave your head. Unfortunatelly many guys doesn't look good with that look (me included).
You need a very small reounded head to look good with copmplete shaved head...if you have a high forehead or long face you will look like a freak.

As long as you want to maintain your hair without a loss.

Sad, but true. I, too, can't pull off a shaved look. I have a brow ridge like a caveman, and the back of my head is kind of flat! :x Oh why oh why...

charcher, that is how god created us and we should be grateful for what we are...i am sure you have other qualities, no one is perfect.
I believe in solutions, i think that if something bothers you about your appearance you need to solve it (if it's possible). My solution was FUE, and i am glad i did it. No one will ever convince me that it was a wrong decision...it has saved my confidence and self esteem.
