Donor Shock Loss

I've been reading a lot about shock loss in the donor area after a CIT. I found out this is very rare. It's like one case in every 10,000. It may be premature to say (I'm 5 weeks PostOp) but looking at these pics seems like I'm the second or third case in history with Donor Shock Loss. I didn't really notice until a friend asked if I had a haircut in the back of my head again. I will start to use Rogaine hoping I get my hair back Crying or Very sad

Yes some patients will experience a loss in the donor area, although it rare. The loss or shedding in the donor area is usually temporary and requires two to three months to return to it's full appearence. Some patients who have had transplants at other clinics have reported complete balding in the donor area. Shock loss in the donor can also occur in the d area surrounding the strip excision in strip (FUT) hair transplant method. This can be uncomfortable for any patient and may require them to temporarily wear a different style. It is unpredictable in regard to which patient will experience this condition.

Just wanted to post this update. I will be 4 months post op in one week and most of the hair has grown back in my donor area. I have been using Rogaine day and night for almost 12 weeks now and I can see more density and coverage over the areas where you could see the scalp 3 months ago. I believe the shock loss in my donor area was caused by the anesthesia shots in the back of my head (which I asked for) during my procedure. Every person has a different reaction to drugs/chemicals and in my case, I'm almost sure the anesthesia - and hydrocortisone post op - shut down the blood supply to the extent of shock loss. My message to other patients is redness is good. Let your body react and do its job. Having a good blood supply to both recipient and donor areas after surgery is good. Embarassed
