What's the size ?

This is my20hr post-op pic. I'm a 42 y.o. and had 854 grafts removed from the back of my head into my hairline by Dr. Cole and team, yesterday.

Does anyone know what size of CIT punch tool they used to extract the FUs from my donor area ? I'd like to know because even though the holes look big if compared to other post-op pics I've seen from Dr. Cole's patients, you can still see there is no damage around these holes and hair is growing back healthy with only a few hours after surgery.

I did some research on the Internet and found this reply from Dr. Cole in his article published back in 2004:

" To date we have not noted an increase in scar formation from the use of larger punches. Larger punches have not shown more collateral damage or shock loss to surrounding hairs in the surrounding follicular units. This has not been studied yet, however. The main problem from follicular unit extraction remains the removal of a follicular unit from the natural follicular geometry of the donor area. This problem is the same regardless of punch size."

wow, looks great! the CIT extractions really has sealed in only 24H...
Are you also using haircycle?
If not, i will suggest to use it or instead put 90% Aloe Vera in your donor area.

we have many different instruments and tools to remove the grafts. one of the tools we have developed allows us to dilate the donor area so that we can see the direction of hair growth, loosen around the follicles and then remove them. the instance here is one where there was considerable hair splay. some people have very straight hair and it goes straight in. others have more curl to their hair and as such the hair enters the scalp and the bulbs diverge from one another almost as if the hairs repulse one another like similar poles of a magnetic. when this occurs, we dilate the area so that we can follow the hair bulbs without damaging them. when skin is dilated in this manner, it takes a day or two to contract back, but it does contract back. there is no increased scarring with this technique. there will be an absence of follicular units in the donor area, however. no matter what instrument we use there will be an absence of follicular units in the donor area if they are removed.

It's nosurprise to see how easily you can read the behaviour of my weird-looking hair when it's only less than a couple of mm grown. The natural splay on my hair is so crazy I'm amazed how your staff was able to put up with it for so many hours. In any case, they sure recruited plenty of frontline soldiers. I used a gel I got on the Internet and noticed a significant reduction in the body's overreactive response to injuries on my hairline. It kept my follicles bloodless and moist after surgery. Both my donor and recipient areas have very little redness, if any at all, only at day 6 after surgery. Thank you and your staff for your work. I can't say I had a great time, but I'm sure it'll be all worth it in 6 months

You are showing excellent healing thus far. The scabbing should be falling off by now as the skin heals. You can start to actually rub the recipient and scrub the donor area to expedite the whole healing process.

The newly transplanted hairs on the recipient area will almost always shed in about a 3 week period.

The key is to stay away from extended periods of sun exposure to minimize damage to the grafts and continue using your biotin spray until it is exhausted.
