This patient of 60+ years of age initially sought out IHTI in hopes of obtaining a naturally appealing hair transplant to restore his frontal scalp and crown. This class five has a fine caliber of hair and has seemingly managed to grow younger with his natural gray hair. Take into account that his results show less contrast with his fair skin tone than his dyed hair even though it compliments him well.

Since this patient refuses to wear a short hair style, our clinic has remedied his hair loss with the strip hair transplant method. We reserve this method for our older patients who don't mind the scar and understand the possible side effects which can be long-term and short-term.

Can you please explain why a strip surgery was preferred in this case? Many of your patients don't intend to buzz their hair after surgery, so why would this individual be any different? Is it simply a matter of time and efficiency? This topic seems to come up over and over again. Why would anyone elect scarring over no scarring? I don't get it.

Most of our patients actually prefer not to buzz their heads for the present time meaning they may want to acquire the "buzz" look many years later. In this case, this patient is actually over 65 years of age so he is highly unlikely to be influenced shave down hair. Some individuals like this patient are religious about not shaving their heads. Some patients believe that if they don't have sufficient donor supply to have a fighting chance then it won't be worth the strip scar. Many patients want the option to wear a "buzz" without the noticeable linear scar.

Let it be known that many strip patients believe the strip method of hair transplant to be cheaper but in essence those same patients will pay the relative price of CIT in the end. Strip patients will only be paying for smaller individual grafts or charged more than once for a significant percentage of their transplanted grafts to achieve a similar CIT result.

Basically the patient's voice of reason answers the question of why he choose strip. He can't be convinced to wear short hair and time isn�t a determining factor in his case.

I guess my only comment is this: I had 1,100 grafts put in by Dr. Cole exactly a month ago. Today I went to the barber and he used a #2 blade on the sides and a #3 on the top. There is absolutely no sign that a transplant was done except for a little extra redness in the recipient site and very minor redness in some spots of the donor area. Nobody but me would notice though. It really is amazing. Now I'm 33 years old and have pretty much had a short hair cut since I was 20 years old, but I absolutely love the fact that I have no scarring whatsoever. And I swear that I may have a little bit of growth in the recipient site already...maybe it's just my imagination though. I'm completely thrilled with my recovery.

So I don't agree with a strip surgery knowing that their is scarring but I suppose everyone has their reasons.
