Cleanhead,
I am in my mid-thirties as well (33 to be exact). I had 1,100 or so grafts with Dr. Cole a little over 2 months ago. However, I had been taking Propecia religiously since I was around 27 yrs. old. I have also taken Rogaine off and on during that period. I have no problem using the medication in lieu of a natural remedy. That's a personal decision. I can tell you though that the hair transplant that I had was absolutely amazing. I had absolutely no signs of anything 10 days after the procedure and I am already seeing a good amount of growth, which is faster than normal based on what I've heard and read on this forum. Dr. Cole is a true professional and the foremost expert on hair loss. Have the consultation and see what he recommends. He would never recommend anything to you that he didn't believe in. He's not a salesman and if he didn't think you needed any work done, he would tell you that. I asked for 2,000 grafts and he told me that was too much. He compared a hair transplant to fixing dull tread on your car tires. You don't replace the tire unless you really need to.
I have also been using Rogaine foam and the Hair Cycle shampoo since December when I had my procedure. The Rogaine foam is 1,000 times more user friendly than the old solution. If having hair for the rest of your life is a priority than go for the Propecia, Rogaine foam, and Hair Cycle shampoo. I also use Nizoral shampoo twice a week to help with drying skin from the Rogaine. It's a commitment and it does cost some money, but for me it's worth it.
I guess my point is that there are proven methods for slowing down hair loss. Don't try to get too creative and don't believe most of the other hype around other products. Stick with the standards. And if you are considering having some work done with Dr. Cole...bro...I can't tell you from experience...it was a breeze. My friends and family are absolutely shocked that I've had anything done. They remember seeing people with the old style transplants and were probably expecting the worst. Mine is 100% undetectable. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you have if you think it is something you'd like to explore.
Good luck,
