Very good point. Sometimes when a person goes through a large amount of stress it can cause hair loss. The stress can be something physical, like a surgical procedure or illness, or the stress can be emotional, like the loss of a loved one. When stress causes the hair to fall out, it is called telogen effluvium. Luckily, this kind of hair loss is not permanent, and the hair will typically begin to grow back in about 3 months after the shed.
If you feel that you might be losing hair due to stress, be comforted that it will grow back. It might be helpful to talk to friends or family members to find out what is stressing you and learn how to best deal with or eliminate the underlying problem. |
