Hair Restoration- General Question

Hi,

I've a couple of general questions about hair transplants for which I'd be very grateful for an answer / an opinion.

A brief background is that I started losing hair at about 19, but with various meds have managed to keep the appearance of a full head of hair for the last 15 years or so (in fact it is much thinner than when I was younger). I'm now 35 years old. I have tried various things from Minoxidil, to Propecia, to Folligen, to Dutasteride. All of these have worked well for a while, but have also then lost effectiveness.

My issue is that the constant cycle of growth / loss is having a very negative impact on my self confidence. I am a good lookng guy but have very little confidence beneath this, so, much as I would like to go bald gracefully, my hair is very important to me.

My questions are:

1.) Assuming reasonable financial resources at my disposal, is it realistic to tell myself that I should be able to maintain a full looking head of hair for the rest of my life through FIT and BHT techniques? I am keen not to have strip surgery.

2.) I understand that even with BHT a lack of donor hair is usually the limiting factor. Generally speaking, does raising the hairline significantly change the appearance of the face from the front, or does a raised hairline generally frame the face in the same way as a lowered one? Essentially I am wondering if if I would still 'look' the same.

Many thanks for taking the time to answer.

james

It's really hard to answer your questions without photos, each individual has different hair characteristics and balding pattern and should be evaluated according to his own case.
can you post some photos and tell us your family background? another option is to send your information and photos for consultation throughout this form: http://www.forhair.com/contact_page.htm

1-Hair loss is a progressive situation that last all life long. Hair transplant surgery is a good way to replace hairs but it doesn't assure you about the fall of your existing hairs. For that reason it is very important you keep taking medication such as Propecia and Rogaine to prevent further loss. Another product that we recommend is haircycle product line (see www.haircycle.com for more information) which promote hair grow by fighting the DHT(hormone responsible for hair loss) and by stimulating the anagen phase( the growing phase of your hairs).

2-It really depends on so many factors such as your hair loss progress, hair quality, density, caliber, etc. Having a consult is perhaps the best way to gather information about your current status, possible future status, and recommendations about what options are best for your specific situation.

We usually recommend a conservative approach for the hairline. If you lower your hair line, it will look natural but you could need more HT to keep the results, and the donor are is a limit resource. However, there are many options available, such as using body hair or FIT farming to extend the donor resources.

We get natural results which is more important than dense hair line. Most of our patients like the naturalness of our frontal hair line and if you want it denser, then we can do it in a 2nd session later on.

Regards,
