Hi everyone

As the title suggests after using Minoxidil my hair becomes
severley dry and brittle . Just wondering if there is anyone
else experiencing this problem .

Is there any thing you can apply to your hair as a cream or
conditioner to prevent this ?

Its frustrating because after washing my hair its managable.
But once I apply the Minoxidil the residue that get on to my hair
drys it and my hair becomes brittlle .

Confused

really? minoxidil makes your hair dry? i never heard that one before...
How long do you take minoxidil?
usually the only related side effect is dry scalp (skin).
here are the known side effects:

Code:
"Diarrhea, dry skin/scalp, flaking, itching, local redness, nausea, or vomiting. These side effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication.

Major: Tell your doctor about any side effects that are persistent or particularly bothersome. IT IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT TO TELL YOUR DOCTOR about back pain, chest pain, common cold, cough, dizziness, fluid retention, headache, feeling faint, light-headedness, rapid heartbeat, weight gain, or worsening of hair loss."

You have several options:

    1. You can switch to propecia or avodart

    2. You can buy Haircycle Treatments[/u] - this shampoo and specially the conditioner will supply the hair with the best ingredients and nutritions, it will make it manageable and soft, it can also stimulate anagen and work great in combination with minoxodil to fight hair loss.

    3. Go to your local dermatologyst.

Good ideas, forhair.

Andrew, do you use conditioner on a regular basis? It might help to use conditioner every time you wash your hair. This can help to protect the strands. Any conditioner could help to do this, but I agree with forhair that the HairCycle would be a good choice because it has other ingredients to promote the health of the hair like antioxidants and natural DHT blockers. I use the conditioner on my hair too because it is very light and doesn't weigh my hair down.

Hope that helps!

I started using Minoxidil a few years ago and it did
irritate my scalp so I stopped using it . Dr Cole suggested
that I used Rogaine foam .

Because I currently reside in South Korea I cannot purchase
Rogaine foam anywhere and have had to resort to purchasing
some Korean brand of Minoxidil 5 % .

As I cannot speak or read Korean its difficult for me to understand
what I'm purchasing; however a Korean friend told me that there
was no isoprophyl ( Or Anti - freeze ) in it .

It was extremely kind of Dr Cole and the team at Forhair to ship
me some Rogaine foam and shampoo .

Whilst I was home in the UK before returning to Korea I tryed
purchase Some Regaine Foam as its known in the UK ; but the
pharmacist had not heard of it .

So since returning to Korea I've had to purchase a Korean brand
and by some Chinease shampoo called Zhangguang 101 hair apparently
Shampoo is made Beijing .

I dont particulary know whats in it but the pharmacist in Korea
recommended it .

Afer was washing my hair with it ; it does seem to leave my hair
well conditioned and managable ..until I apply the Minoxidil.

I have tryed to purchase Rogaine foam on line ; but apparently
nobody will ship it out to South Korea .

I did attempt to go the US military store near Seoul thinking mmm its
possible they may sell it there ; but because I wasn't military personnel
I wasn't allowed to purchase anything so I gave up that idea.

I didn't want to impose on Dr Cole and the team again as they'd been
good to me first time round .

So if anyone knows a Rogaine Foam supplier in South Korea could you
please let me know .

Oh ! i also read the the other day that Kiwi fruit contains all the necessary vitamins for promoting anagen . Any truth in this I wonder ?

ps: I'm currently taking Propecia and use Nizoral shampoo .

Andrew,

Hair Cycle products are very helpful for promoting healthy hair quality, while blocking DHT absorption on the scalp. In addition you might try a "higher end" leave in conditioner. You can apply this a good 1/2 hour to hour after using the minoxidil.
Regards,

FIT Club

Hi Andrew,

If you are experienced dryness, it could be the alcohol in the Rogaine lotion. It could be better to keep using Rogaine Foam. I remember, we sent you a Rogaine Foam package last December. We can send a new package if you need it any time Very Happy .

You can use Haircycle shampoo and conditioner in the daily basics to keep your hair hydrated, shiny, tangle free and healthy. This will help you to stabilize your hair loss and get a maximum benefit for a long time.

Yes. It looks like Haircycle does ship to South Korea, but I don't know how expensive it is. If FIThair is going to ship you out some Rogaine foam, you could get some Haircycle from our supply at the same time to save on shipping costs if you want some.

Still checking on the kiwi anagen relationship Very Happy

I asked an expert in natural medicine about the kiwi:

"Well, kiwi may contain nutrients that promote anagen; probably many other foods/herbs do too.
But is the concentration high enough to have a definite effect on balding persons?
Perhaps topical application of such nutrients is key. I do not know for a fact. I had never heard this about kiwi."

Let us know if you find any studies about kiwi Very Happy
