When a graft is transplanted and the scalp heals, the follicle can either shed or retain the current hair. If the hair is shed, the follicle will start a new hair and you should start seeing growth from that follicle in about 3 months. If the hair is not shed, it might shed later, or it might start growing right away. This is normal and nothing to worry about.
After the scalp has healed (usually in the second week), start to gently massage with your fingertips when you shampoo to encourage the scabs to fall off and to help remove the hairs that are being shed. This can speed the healing and growth process.
During the third week after surgery, you can be more aggressive and shampoo as you normally do. |
