Does Dr. Cole travel to Toronto for one-on-one patient consultations?

After reviewing some of the HT repair and reversal photos, I'd be very interested in having a consultation with him.

If he doesn't, then can you suggest someone in the Toronto area who could provide me with a reliable consultation about HT repair and reversal?

I had 4 HTs in the mid 1990's. The HTs were performed with mini-grafts, and while the results have been good, today my front hairline looks too thick and my side temporal hairline has receded to the point that my hair now looks unnatural and cannot be styled properly.

I went to my original HT surgeon, who refused to reverse or "recede" my hairline to a more natural state. He said that he could thicken it though. However, I'm not looking to thicken my existing hairline, as given unanticipated temporal recession, I feel my hairline is unnaturally full at the front. Besides which, it is too thick at the front already, and has become impossible to style.

I've been to laser hair removal specialists; but they refuse to work on my hair and scalp. Their specialists have noted that results would likely not be satisfactory, and that laser hair removal from HTs is not a specialty of laser hair removal clinics.

I'd like to acheive a more natural hairline and thinning for my age (40).

Please reply with any advice.

Thanks

Hi TSTO,

I advise you to first have a free consultation and then go from there. The office should get back with you within a couple of days. Send a few photos from a good digital camera and that will be very helpful.

i'm not sure there is anyone out there doing the reversal work we do. there are older methods that you could consider and you might be happy with them. I cannot advise you on who to see in Toronto, but i will throw some names at your of physicians who are in the Toronto area. Walter Unger, Paul Cotteril, and Rob Jones do hair surgery in Toronto. David Seager was working there, but he has cancer and is currently not practicing. good luck. repair work is a terrible thing to need.

If you post some photos, i can give you some ideas on what your options are.

I was afraid that there might not be anyone doing reversal work in Canada. I've had one HT doctor suggest adding more transplants, but I feel that would exacerbate the problem - insofar as my temple region has thinned considerably since my first HT.

I will try to get ahold of a good digital camera with which I can take a few photos that I can post. I should hopefully be able to borrow a camera to do this in the next week or two.

In the meantime, I might call some of the doctors whose names you have mentioned. According to the laser hair removal specialist/dermatologist whom I consulted with, I was told that Dr. Unger has or will soon be retiring. The dermatologist suggested Dr. Armani, however I don't have enough information about his qualifications. I did take a look at Dr. Jones website, which advocates FUE; but the site mentions nothing about reversal surgery.

I'll post some digital photos in the next week or two, and then will await to hear what some of my options may be.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

i don't know enough about dr. armani to recomend him, but he is in toronto. sorry i forgot to mention him. he is quite popular with many people. i'm not quite sure why he changed his name from dr. alvi to dr. armani. that seemed a little strange to me. he's a nice guy, though. go see what he has to say. dr. unger has not said anything to me about retirement and i communicate with him often. he's pretty youthful for an older gent so i don't think he's hanging up his hat any time soon.
