ok im 21, a few years ago i was put on propecia for a very odd condition, my hair would break off half way and not grow for like a year, propecia helped i think along with a shampoo, daragen

i dont recall if i had any sexual side affects cuz i was dating no one for the 6 or 7 months i took it...i believe it helped my hair grown in that area and also stop shedding, but i ended up stopping cuz of the price, now im starting to lose a good deal of hair especially on the front vertex, hairline area, but also the top, im not bald, just starting to thin a lot

i had a few idea and wanted some feedback to help me decide what to do

the main thing is i dont want sexual side affects, and then i want something to stop or slow my shedding or falling out, i dont care if it doesnt regrow hair, i just want to keep what i have atleast.

1. get back on propecia and take smaller doses at like .5 or .2 instead of a full mg....or take 1 mg every 2 or 3 days...i reaaally dont want sexual side affects and im affraid to go at it with a full doseage

2. try the same thing with dutasteride, i know it is more powerful but i dont hear so much about the sexual side affects with it.

3. this is the one i really want to try but i dont know if it will work, i want to try topical and oral minoxodil....either at the same time or start with topical and get some results and then stop topical and start oral to keep the results...is this possible? has anyone tried? or would oral minox be good alone? i dont really want to have to put stuff in my hair 2 times a day for the rest of my life, so id rather switch to oral if it would work....

maybe once a day of topical minox would do good, idk...im sure that offers less sexual side effects than prop or dut

The more you do now to slow or reverse your hair loss, the better off you will be down the road. Delaying your efforts will only impair your capacity to get back to the point you are today. You can always do things to keep your hair in its present condition, but it is very hard or impossible to get your hair back to the point it was the year before.

Dutasteride is longer acting than propecia and does cause sexual side affects in some. In theory it should cause more problems than propecia. i suspect you do not hear as much about sexual side affects in general because fewer people take dutasteride and sexual side affects from propecia and dutasteride are uncommon.

fewer than 3 out of 100 men will have any sexual side affects on propecia. if you did not have problems before, you likely will not have them now. they are completely reversible, however. once you stop the drug you will gradually go back to normal.

minoxidil is not prescribed orally for hair loss.

do the DHT blockers. propecia or dutasteride and saw plametto

do the anagen stimulators minoxidl, nizoral shampoo twice a week, and hair cycle shampoo with conditioner 5 times per week.

you can also try topical anti-androgens such as topical spironolactone.

at this point you will be doing everything possible to maintain your hair.

good luck.
