30-day Post-Op Photos

My procedure ended July 14, 2006. I had 2750 FIT graphs to the front third and 1000 bht to the crown. Here are my 30-day post op photos. I am in the process of taking the next photos and will have those shortly. You will start to see some small growth. I lost most of the graphs to shedding, but as you can see, some of the hairs are starting to come out at the 30-day period.

Nobody quite knows how to keep hairs growing following a procedure, but we never run out of ideas. Our current idea is to keep grafts at 4 degrees celsius in a storage medium specifically tailored to a cool environment. Keeping grafts cool in the wrong storage medium can potentially be harmful to grafts. Keeping grafts cool in the wrong storage medium can be harmful, as well. Getting grafts to 4 degrees celsius is very difficult and keeping them at this temperature is next to impossible given present. We are building a new device that we hope with keep grafts at 4 degrees celsius. It should be operational in one more month. We have identified the optimal cool storage medium, which is Hypothermasol. It contains two powerful antioxidants, glutathione and vitamin E. the problem with cool environments is that it paralyzes the sodium, potassium pumps and the calcium pumps. this leads to an increase in the intracellular osmotic concentration. if the storage medium is a lower concentration, the osmotic gradient will result in an increase in water entering the cell to equalize the concentrations. This can result in cell bursting or lysis. Therefore, it is important at lower temperatures to have a storage medium that has a higher concentration that is more similar to the intracellular concentration. Of course at a higher temperature, a higher concentrated storage medium can potentially be harmful to cells itself.

you are having some growth at 30 days. This is encouraging. the limited growth is certainly normal for this period of time. you really should not begin to see significant things happening until the after the 90 day mark. Good luck and thanks for the update on your progress.
